The makers of the show, ‘Dexter’, very well, know what they need to do, when it comes to the publicity of the show. Every time they come up with some new and unique ways for the promotion of the show. Remember the last time when they came up with that viral news clip, in which you could insert people’s names as the Killer’s next victim? Well, it was definitely a good marketing trick, which also raised the TRP of the show.
This time they are again up with something new to promote the next season of their show. To launch the season 3 of the well known ‘serial killer’ TV show ‘Dexter’ by Showtime, they have this time build fake pop-up news stands in heavily trafficked public spaces in cities across America including New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco. These fake stands featured the show’s star Michael C Hall on mock covers of high-profile magazines like Rolling Stone, The New Yorker and GQ. Snacks wrapped in suitably blood-red packaging also figured on the stands. The red stands were very prominent in the market place and for sure they were noticed by every person passing by.
Now, this definitely is a very interesting way to promote the new season of the show and to attract people’s attention. Anyone who was not even interested in watching the show, I am sure would have went back and seen the show. But, I personally feel that the series is already a hit and that even without publicity, it rocks.
