In this episode of the season, we meet the main character of the show, Dexter Morgan. The episode shows him as a serial killer who murders the criminals who, somehow, escape from the hands of the law. Dexter, by killing those, tries to bring justice to the ones who have suffered at their hands. As the sun rises, Dexter heads towards the Miami Metro Police Department in which he works as a blood spatter analyst. And, as the night begins, he takes the form of the serial killer to murder the evil doers who have managed to getaway from the justice due to loopholes in law. This double life is hidden from his sister, his girlfriend and also from his co-workers. In the very first episode of the series, Dexter investigates a series of murders and the murderer is named Ice Truck Killer. The murderer kills several prostitutes and their bloodless bodies are found in various locations of Miami. The end of the episode introduced Dexter’s sister Debra, a vice squad officer.
