In this episode of the season, we saw that an officer, who was investigating Carlos Guerrero, a drug linchpin, was murdered. Detectives Batista and Doakes were set to investigate the case and Dexter joined the two. Doakes had an affair with the wife of the killed officer and he also got involved in the case. Later this episode, the refrigerated truck, which was being used by the Ice Truck Killer to mutilate his victims, was found by Debra. Lt. Maria LaGuerta encouraged Debra to join the Homicide Department. Getting into the truck, the trio found a block of ice. It contained five fingertips in it. But why the clever murderer left it behind deliberately remained a secret. Dexter also became suspicious that Ice Truck Killer was aware about his secret.
